I Found Myself Pregnant After Becoming An Omega 15
Chapter 15: Then? Let’s see who gets first place on the exam
Although the exam is only a regular monthly exam, the whole
school must take it.
It is a rare chance for all Alphas, Betas, and Omegas to get
together and be mixed in different exam rooms. In every exam room, all
pheromone filters are turned on.
Each exam room is monitored by both an Alpha and a Beta teacher.
There is also an Alpha teacher patrolling in the corridor to prevent any sudden
accident from happening.
After the homeroom teacher finished issuing the admission
ticket and left, everyone’s attention was shifted onto the exam, and no one paid
any attention to Ji Yu anymore. Instead, they began to whisper:
"Which testing room are you in? I'm in room 24."
"I'm in 21."
"I spent all of last night reposting Koi,1 hoping that God can
give me four Alphas and let them surround me!"
"Why do you want four Alphas to surround you? Is your spring
heart blossoming?" 2
"What are you even thinking in that filthy mind of
yours? The more Alpha there are around us, the higher the score will be, do you
understand?"
Alphas are recognized for their high IQ, and an exam like
this is not worth mentioning to them.
Every year during the college entrance exams, the Beta class
building and the Omega class building are always extremely depressed. The
lights in their classrooms are on all night long.
On the other hand, the Alpha class building always switched
off their lights early. Even during the time leading up to the exam, many Alphas
can be seen playing on the playground leisurely, and was finally pulled back to
class by the head teacher to prepare for the exam.
Furthermore, Alphas are particularly exceptional when it
comes to all the science subjects. It is said that to sit next to an Alpha on a
science test was almost the equivalent of sitting next to a set of perfect
standardize answers.
Some students who have poor grades and are keen on a little
‘opportunism’ are especially hopeful to sit near an Alpha. It would be even
better if they could come across an Alpha who could give them a break.
Ji Yu glanced at his admission ticket: Exam Room 17, Seat
20.
Looking at the time, there was still about one hour before
the test.
He is still not very familiar with the school, and will have
to find the exam room in advance.
"Hey, which exam room do you have?"
Ji Yu lowered his eyes and began checking his testing
supplies.
"Hey! Did you hear me? Ji Yu. Which exam room are you
in?"
Ji Yu then looked up at the drama queen3 : "Room 17."
Drama queen: "Fuck, we're together? What's your seat number?
Let's not sit together."
"20."
The drama queen breathed a sigh of relief: "Oh, that's fine."
After he said that, he turned his head, took out a piece of
jade pendant from a small bag with a very traditional turquoise color. Putting
it on his neck with a reverent expression, he began muttering something in his
mouth.
Intrigue, Ji Yu stared at him curiously.
With excellent eyesight, Ji Yu effortlessly saw a
bodhisattva carved on the jade pendant. He could guess that it was a carving of
Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom.
In his previous world, he had watched his classmates go to
the temple to burn incense and worship Buddha before their college entrance
exam. However, Ji Yu didn’t expect the drama queen to believe in this too.
When it was almost time, Ji Yu packed up and went to the
bathroom.
By the time Ji Yu arrived at his exam room, there were
already half of the people sitting inside, and the drama queen was one of them.
He was frowning, though his hands were still clasped together and his mouth
kept mumbling.
When he looked up and saw Ji Yu, his mouth moved quickly,
with a trace of panic in his eyes.
Ji Yu: "???"
Failing to understand,4 Ji Yu could only look at the table number of
the person in front of him and then began walking towards the back. He sat down
at his sit under the increasingly horrified gaze of the drama queen sitting
next to him.
The drama queen exploded in an instant: "Why are you
here? It's really you!"
"I deliberately didn’t put my name and number on the
table! I wanted to leave it to fate, but who would expect that fate would saddle
me with you! Ah, I am so miserable. There is no Alpha around me, and no Alpha
means that this will be a bad test. It’s over..." The drama queen slumped
onto the table.
Ji Yu: "..."
The title of ‘drama queen’ is really accurate. He is really full
of a lot of dramas, and everywhere is his stage.
At this moment, a tall boy walked over to Ji Yu and sat
down.
Ji Yu turned his head and glanced, thinking to himself: the
world is really small.
"Hello." Ji Yu took the initiative to say hello.
He Zhou nodded very coldly.
Seeing that He Zhou didn't think much about him, Ji Yu
looked at the drama queen again.
The scene this person was acting is so eye-catching that Ji
Yu couldn't help but snorted: "Hey, Song Cheng. Isn't this here an Alpha?
You also have an Alpha sitting in front of you, both are Alphas."
"But they are not directly next to me." The drama
queen who was called out was still lying on the table in frustration, "I
have a wall on my left side, a Beta in the front, and on my right side is the
person who scored the lowest in the entire grade. It's over, everything is
over."
Ji Yu, the lowest in the entire grade: "Oh, then you
are going to have to call me Daddy."
Song Cheng sat up straight, and glared at Ji Yu: "No
matter how bad I get in the exam, I will definitely be better than you!"
Ji Yu chuckled, and was quite relaxed to watch this little
play before the exam.
He twirled his pen and said, "Okay, then. Go on."
He Zhou on the side looked as if he was reading, but actually
his ears had been paying attention to the movements nearby.
He remembered that everyone in Class 3 seemed to hate the
original Ji Yu. Now that the soul had changed, this new person could make many
friends in only a short few days? And their relationship was so good that they even
joke about "calling daddy" so openly to each other...
"Ji Yu."
He Zhou tapped his finger on the surface of the desk,
interrupting the childish conversation between the two Omegas, "Lend me a
black pen."
Ji Yu had only brought a black pen and a pencil. There was
no extra pen to be lend out at all, so he reached out and patted Song Cheng's
table: "Brother, do you have some extra pens? Let him borrow a black one."
He Zhou looked at Song Cheng in the corner, and had just wanted
to say forget it, when he heard Song Cheng grabbed his pencil case and exclaimed:
"It is a taboo to borrow a pen before the exam. It is the same as lending
a gun to someone else before going on the battlefield. It is very bad..."
Song Cheng blushed and looked at He Zhou embarrassedly,
"Although I like you quite a lot, I can't let you borrow my pen before the
exam."
He Zhou: "..."
Ji Yu can sympathize with Song Cheng, after all, this person
looked like a devotee who would worship the Boddhisattva monthly.
Ji Yu thought for a while, then took out ten dollars from
his pocket and put it on He Zhou's desk: "There’s still twenty minutes until
the exam. It’s not too late to go to the supermarket to buy one."
He Zhou: "..."
He actually has a pen, but just now he suddenly had an impulse
to interrupt the conversation between the two.
He Zhou believes that this is probably because most Alphas
has an instinctual and powerful possessive desire for their Omega, so it’s
natural that he doesn't like seeing Ji Yu joking with others.
Therefore, his impulsiveness is rightly justified.
Then he regretted it. So very regretful.
He Zhou pulled out his pen in front of Ji Yu and wrote twice
on the draft paper at random, with a cold voice: "It's working again, I can
write."
Ji Yu nodded: "That’s for the best."
He put the ten dollars back in his pocket.
He Zhou put down his pen, turned the page of review
materials, and asked casually: "How was your preparation for the
exam?"
"Not bad." Ji Yu was very relaxed.
Although it’s only been a week since he transmigrated, the
extremely similar world helped him assimilate quickly. Moreover, the content and
process of the college entrance examination were the same, so he didn't even
need to adjust.
Ji Yu was originally at a level where he can take the
college entrance exam immediately. For him to come back and take this monthly assessment,
it’s not an exaggeration to say that it will be a cakewalk.
Ji Yu asked politely: "What about you?"
He Zhou closed the review materials carelessly, his tone was
light but full of confidence: "Since enrollment, any test I take, I will get
first place."
"You’re insane." Originally, Ji Yu was just casually
asking. However, He Zhou’s answer have ignited a bit of fighting spirit in Ji
Yu’s eyes.
He looked at He Zhou with the same arrogance and confidence,
"Me too."
Always have been number one, never felt anything other
than being first.
And I won’t accept anything less. 5
On the sideline, Song Cheng ruined the atmosphere: "How
are you the same? He is number one from the top, while you are number one from
the bottom."
Ji Yu smiled and didn't want to say more.
He looked down and begin twirling his pen. His current hands
were much softer and more flexible than his original body, and he was able to
perform a variety of pen-turning tricks at random.
The black fountain pen danced on his white and slender
fingertips, dazzling people, and everyone couldn't help being fascinated. It
wasn't until the examiner walked in with the test paper in hand that Ji Yu
tapped his little finger and stopped his pen tricks.
Ji Yu raised his eyes, just in time to see the stunned eyes
of the group of people who had not had time to withdraw their gaze.
He smiled in his heart and put his hands on the table
casually.
Two examiners, a man and a woman, stepped towards front of
the room and began tearing open the protective wrap around the test papers.
"Students, please put away everything, except for your pens
and rulers, everything else must go into your desk. Draft papers will be
distributed evenly."
"The subject of the test is Chinese. You will have two
and a half hours. It will start on time at 2:00pm and end at 4:30pm. There are
cameras in the front and back of the classroom and they are all turned on.
Please pay attention to the order of the test..."
When the examiner was speaking, Ji Yu suddenly turned to
look at He Zhou: "Are we competing?" 6
After speaking, Ji Yu realized that He Zhou wasn’t listening
at all, and instead, his attention seemed to be focused on another place. Ji Yu
followed that gaze and ends up on his hand.
He deliberately knocked on the desk with his finger:
"Hey, have you seen enough?"
He Zhou raised his eyes and coughed lightly, "You are
very good at twirling the pen."
Ji Yu didn't notice any strangeness, and still said,
"Compete?"
"Hm?"
"See who can get first place on the exam."
He Zhou responded, "Compete."
Ji Yu made an OK gesture: "We’ll compare when the exam
is over."
After speaking, he turned his head and faced the sharp gaze
of the male Beta teacher. Ji Yu suddenly dropped his smile, lowered his eyes,
and set his gaze on the clean desk.
Within a few minutes, the first bell rang.
Snow-white test papers began to shuffle up and down. From
the front to the back, everyone bowed their heads and wrote their names on the
test, then capped their pens and waited for the second bell to ring.
Within five minutes, Ji Yu had swept his gaze through the
test from the beginning to end.
Thanks to the crazy amount of studying during the prep for
his college entrance exam, Ji Yu could roughly estimate the time spent on each
portion of the test at a glance, and spared time to write the essay.
Longcheng’s Chinese composition exam is the same as
Jiangcheng’s composition exam. (T/N:
JY’s original school)
The prompt is often extremely literary and artistic, exuding
the loftiness of a scholar. A few paragraphs of poetry or a few sentences on a
topic is selected, and the student have to write an essay illustrating their
insights on the subject.
Ji Yu is most annoyed at writing essays, so he just memorizes
a bunch of high-scoring essays, and he can handle the most troublesome
questions easily without any effort.
When the second bell rang, Ji Yu picked up the pen and
turned on his ‘turbo-speed answering mode.’
He Zhou, who was sitting next to him, took a look at Ji Yu.
When everyone else was still working on the first page of
the test, Ji Yu had already started on the third page. His pen moved so fast
that it looks like it was about to fly. Even He Zhou’s answering speed
could not be compared to him.
He Zhou concentrated his mind, and refocused his attention
on the test.
However, in the end, there was still a trace of distraction
in his thoughts. Incidentally, Ji Yu's eyes had looked at him just now, arrogant
and extremely confident.
They were like the finest obsidian pearls, black and shiny.
"Dak dak dak."
A sudden sound of high heels interrupted He Zhou's thoughts.
He frowned, his expression extremely unhappy.
Although there is not an explicit rule against wearing high
heels during an exam, it is something agreed upon by most of the teachers.
He Zhou raised his eyes unhappily, and saw the male teacher
approaching them.
The teacher turned his back and bent over, as if looking at
Ji Yu's test paper. He Zhou glanced at the ground. It turned out that it wasn’t
a pair of high heels, but a pair of leather shoes with elevated heels.
He Zhou heard the male teacher whispering to Ji Yu: "You’re
doing it so fast?"

T/N:
1) “Forwarding Koi”: In China, the koi carp represents fame, family harmony, wealth, as well as overcoming adversity. Reposting images of Koi on social media is believed to bring in good luck.
2) 春心荡漾了 [chūn xīn dàng yang] (spring heart rippling): An idiom used to describe the “stirring” admiration and affection between two people.
3) 加戏男 [jiā xì nán] (adding drama male): lit. the boy who adds drama, i.e. a drama queen. Presumably the same bully that challenged Ji Yu on the test. Depending on the context, his moniker will change accordingly.
4) 莫名其妙 [mòmíngqímiào]: a Chinese idiom; it means that what happens is very strange and can’t be explain why; to be baffled/baffling
5) 也不想感受 [yě bùxiǎng gǎnshòu] (lit. also don’t want to feel/accept): It doesn’t explicitly state what he won’t accept, but from context, it’s anything less than first place.
6) 我们比比?[wǒmen bǐbǐ?] (lit. are we comparing): as in comparing the result; changed to competing as they are both betting to beat the other.

Lyrus: Update time. It's time for some calming campus fun before the next part of the main drama.
Enjoy and thanks for reading.
Let's hope he doesn't get called out for cheating considering the big gap in performance.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the ritualistic praying for better scores was totally me. @_@ RIP.
Yep, I have those "rituals" too. Whatever can helps lol
DeleteI'm really liking this novel! Thank you for the translation, and I hope the next chapter comes soon!
ReplyDeleteAnd he is absolutely going to be called out for cheating. In fairness though, most people with that kind of crazy leap in performance really are cheaters. Not to mention the speed he is answering questions implies that he already knew the answers. Which he did from studying, but not from seeing the key in advance.
Also, I'm really hoping the baby turns out to be the He Zhou's, JUST so that Ji Yu can thoroughly mop the floor with him. Granted the previous inhabitant was clearly using He Zhou, but I'm always biased in favor of the mom in stories. :)
Welcome aboard! I'm glad you like it, it's one of my fav. Also, worry not, there's face-slapping aplenty, so sit back and enjoy :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha! Go go Ji Yu! Flaunt your intelligent. Thanks for the chapter
