I Found Myself Pregnant After Becoming An Omega 37
Chapter 37: Humans And Their Cubs
Hearing Ji Yuan Sheng’s questions, Ji
Yu couldn't help but feel a little lucky.
Fortunately, he has a strong ally like
He Zhou, otherwise he wouldn't be at ease with protecting little Yu Zhou.
Ji Yu looked directly at Ji Yuan Sheng,
and replied, "Yes, the baby was born premature, in only five months."
Ji Yuan Sheng nodded lightly:
"Where is he now?"
Ji Yu was slightly startled.
Ji Yuan Sheng didn't seem to be
surprised at all that Little Yu was born in only five months.
Ji Yu pondered for a moment, "The
child is at He Zhou's place."
Before Ji Yuan Sheng could speak, Ji Heng who was next to him sneered.
"He Zhou? He Zhou is willing to take
care of your child? Is he insane?"
Ji Yu turned to look at Ji Heng
coldly, "You usually talk like this?"
Ji Heng shrugged, and said
indifferently: "Yeah, why?"
Ji Yu sneered back straight at Ji Heng, no longer caring about
Ji Yuan Sheng's presence.
"So. Damn. Rude."
Ji Heng's face remained unchanged, he
spread his hands with a smile: "Is what I said not the truth?"
"Does He Zhou wants to be a father so bad that he is willing
to be cuckold by you? Even after all the trouble you brought him, he is still
so eager to raise a bastard child for you. Is he just that stupid? Or is it
that you, Ji Yu, are just too good at seducing him?"
"Young Master Ji doesn’t need to worry about whether I'm
stupid or not."
Just when Ji Yu was thinking about how to reply, a deep and
magnetic voice sounded at the door.
Ji Yu was taken aback for a moment, he
turned his head to look at the door, only to see a familiar tall figure
appearing against the light.
"He Zhou?" He looked at the
man in surprise.
Standing by the door, He Zhou was not
in the casual clothes he usually wears, but changed into formal shirt and
trousers.
The straight and slim suit outlines his
perfect body figure, while an expensive watch and a pair of custom-crafted
leather shoes gives him a more refined and mature demeanor.
The young Alpha’s
hair is all pulled back, revealing a smooth forehead and a devilish look.
There was a smile
on the corner of his mouth, and his eyes looked a little wicked and full of
momentum.
Ji Yu sized up
the man in front of him carefully, and couldn't help feeling that He Zhou was a
bit handsome today.
Ji Yu walked
towards the door without hiding the surprise in his eyes: "Why are you
here?"
He Zhou nodded
towards a certain direction inside the room: "I'm here to visit Uncle
Ji."
Ji Yuan Sheng sat motionless in his
seat, and just nodded to He Zhou.
Ji Heng frowned: "Why did no one
come to announce your arrival?"
Ji Yuan Sheng said lightly: "He
had already sent a notice to me this morning."
Hearing this, Ji Heng gritted his
teeth, snorted coldly and turned his head.
Ji Yu looked at He Zhou even more in
shock.
He Zhou really came here to support
him?
Although this is the territory of Ji's
family, Ji Yu inexplicably felt that the burden on his shoulders was much
lighter when He Zhou arrived.
At this time, Ji
Yuan Sheng said again: "Is the child with you?"
He Zhou nodded:
"Yes."
"Why didn't
you bring him here?"
Ji Yu frowned.
Ji Yuan Sheng
seems to be particularly concerned about Little Yu Zhou.
This is very
strange.
If he really
cares about his grandson so much, why did he completely ignored the child
before?
"He's been
sick recently, so it's inconvenient to take him out."
He Zhou added,
"I'll bring him here to show you when he recovers."
Ji Yuan Sheng
didn't speak, just glanced at He Zhou.
He Zhou stood
there without moving, looking at Ji Yuan Sheng, neither humble nor overbearing.
After a while, Ji
Yuan Sheng looked away.
He picked up the
computer and coffee on the table, turned around and walked towards the stairs,
"I still have something to do, you kids can stay here and talk
together."
When Ji Yuan Sheng left, Ji Yu
immediately relaxed a lot.
He didn't care about Ji Heng, who was
on the sofa staring at him with strange eyes.
Ji Yu grabbed He Zhou’s arm,
"Let's go. Want to see the garden?"
"Ok."
When they were about to leave, He Zhou
glanced at Ji Heng with displeasure.
This glance made Ji Heng shrink his
neck. It was only until the backs of the two of them disappeared, that Ji Heng
sat up, and threw the cup in his hand forcefully.
Ji Yu heard the sound of the cup
shattering, and said in a low voice, "I don’t think he’s the culprit."
He Zhou: "The reason?"
"He’s too brainless. This kind of person generally won't
survive a few pages in a novel."
Ji Yu shook his head, "Ji Heng does not fit the profile of someone
who manipulate others behind-the-scene. When I first met him, he pointed to my
face and said how much he hates me. He's just an impulsive brat."
He Zhou: "What if he's just pretending?"
Ji Yu raised his eyebrows: "Then he is too good at pretending."
"Just now, Ji Heng was being super rude in front of Ji Yuan
Sheng, but Ji Yuan Sheng didn’t have any surprise reaction at all and didn’t
reprimand his son. This means that Ji Heng have always been straightforward and
foul-mouthed, so it shouldn't be an act."
He Zhou hummed lightly: "Don't rush and jump to conclusion
just yet. Let’s continue to observe."
Ji Yu nodded: "I know."
"What else did you find
out?"
Ji Yu smiled: "Not much else.
After all, I'm not a detective, and I’ve also only just arrived."
As if thinking of something, Ji Yu looked
into the distance.
"…But there is something strange.
Yesterday, Wen Yu Wei was very warm to me over the phone, but she didn't show
up today. And here I thought I would get to see the entire family."
"Have you seen Xue Zong?"
"Yes, he came to pick me up this morning, probably on Ji Yuan
Sheng’s order."
Ji Yu narrowed his eyes slightly, with a confused expression on
his face.
"There is one thing I don't quite understand though. Ji Yuan
Sheng seems to want to see Little Yu Zhou very much. However, up until now he
has been totally indifferent to the child. Why is he suddenly so interested? I
don't know what he wants, but I can feel it is not a good thing.”
He Zhou thought for a moment, "Then we just won’t let him see
Yu Zhou."
Ji Yu nodded: "I think so too."
After talking about the heavy burden on his mind, Ji Yu felt a lot
more relaxed.
He finally had time to look at the
surrounding environment, and also had time to comment on He Zhou's attire.
"You look super cool today. No
wonder it is said on the Internet that men are the most handsome in suits,
which makes me want to wear a suit."
He Zhou put one hand into his pocket
and looked down at the boy before him, "But being handsome comes at a
price."
"Huh?"
He Zhou smiled, suddenly stretched out
his hand, and grasped Ji Yu's hand.
Ji Yu felt the heat in his palm, and looked
up at He Zhou, "...It’s so warm."
"An Alpha's body temperature is naturally
high."
He Zhou withdrew
his hand and looked forward, "Wearing a suit in summer is simply
torture."
Ji Yu pointed
behind him: "Then why don't we go back indoors?"
He Zhou was about
to speak, but his face suddenly changed.
He seemed to have
seen something terrible, and the hand that had just let go of Ji Yu reached out
to hold him again. With all his strength, He Zhou pulled Ji Yu into his arms.
Before Ji Yu had
time to look back, he staggered and fell onto He Zhou's chest.
The shirt that was heated with body
temperature pressed against Ji Yu’s cheek, and a wave of Alpha pheromone rushed
to his face.
Ji Yu was stunned, and he grabbed He
Zhou's shirt with both hands, trying to balance his body. However, his hands
slipped, and his grasp fell down towards He Zhou’s waist, his fingers hooked
onto the Alpha’s belt.
There seemed to be something rumbling
past beside him, accompanied by the sound of growling and wheezing.
He Zhou sternly yelled out, "Move!"
While shouting, He Zhou tighten the
boy in his arms and leapt backward.
Being pulled, Ji Yu staggered for a
bit. When he finally managed to stand still, he looked down not far away:
"What are those? Dogs?"
"Pit bulls."
Ji Yu's eyes widened: "Pit bulls?
So many? Isn't Pitbull not allowed to be kept in this city?"
"There are many people in the
Capital who likes to raise exotic pets in private. Even things like tiger or
lion are possible. Compared with those, raising a bunch of dogs is
nothing."
Ji Yu frowned: "Raising dogs is one
thing, but it's wrong to let them out to scare people."
After speaking, Ji Yu let go of his grip
and stood up straight.
When he raised his head, he realized
that he and He Zhou were so close, their faces were almost touching each other.
One of them was looking down, while
the other one was looking up.
Their breaths were intertwined, and,
as long as he stood tiptoe, his lips would meet He Zhou’s.
Ji Yu’s heartbeat suddenly
accelerated, and the glands on the back of the neck that had just healed were
also slightly hot.
Ji Yu's throat moved, he blinked, and immediately
took two steps back.
"Where is the man who raised
these dogs? Is he not going to come out and apologize for scaring people?"
He Zhou lowered his eyes but said
nothing.
After a few seconds, he turned
sideways and looked in a certain direction calmly: "He's over there."
Ji Yu followed his gaze: "Xue
Zong?"
Xue Zong was standing on the lawn not
far away. At his feet, a group of pit bulls were eating pieces of raw meat.
Wearing a suit and glasses, Xue Zong
still maintained a soft and gentle appearance, which is incompatible with the
ferocious-looking pit bull below.
Xue Zong looked at the two people with
a smile, adjusted his glasses, and asked, "Did I bother you?"
Ji Yu pointed at the dogs: "Are
these dogs raised by you?"
"Yes. They are Mr. Ji's dogs, but
they were all raised by me."
As he spoke, Xue Zong walked away from
the dogs, his voice was clear and calm, "Just now, they were in a hurry to
eat lunch, and accidentally bumped into you. I'm really sorry."
Seeing that Xue Zong had apologized
with a friendly smile, Ji Yu decided not let it go. After all, as the Chinese
proverb goes, “You can stretch out your hand, but you better not hit a smiling
face.”1
Besides, He Zhou reacted quickly and
they're not hurt.
Ji Yu waved his hand: "We're
fine, just be more careful in the future. It would be bad if your dogs run into
someone and causes an accident."
Xue Zong smiled and nodded:
"Okay."
He walked up to
the two people and stood at about one meter away, "To express my apology,
let me give you a friendly reminder."
He Zhou’s voice
became cold and deep, "What reminder?"
"Mr. Ji
really wants to see Little Master Yu Zhou."
Xue Zong paused
for a moment before continuing, "You should both know this, and so do I.
You don't want the two of them to meet."
Ji Yu raised his
eyebrows: "So?"
"In this world, there is nothing that Mr. Ji wants that he
cannot have…"
Xue Zong lowered his voice and looked at He Zhou, "…So you'd
better keep an eye on the child, otherwise the Little Master will meet
his grandfather in a few days."
Ji Yu and He Zhou looked at each other, their expressions were
equally dignified.
Ji Yu thought for a moment and asked, "Why does he wants to
see my child so much?"
Xue Zong shook his head, his expression still softly smiling:
"I don't know."
Finished
speaking, Xue Zong bowed and turned to leave.
Ji Yu took a step
forward, and stretched out his hand, "Wait, why did you come to pick me up
this morning? Was it Ji Yuan Sheng or Wen Yu Wei who ordered you to come?”
Xue Zong was
silent for a long time, and when Ji Yu thought he would not answer, he suddenly
said, "It was Mr. Ji."
Ji Yu:
"Thank you."
Xue Zong glanced
back at him: "You're welcome."
Afterward, Xue
Zong strolled back to the lawn, and continued to observes the group of pit
bulls eating.
Ji Yu folded his
arms around his chest, and suddenly said to He Zhou, "Today Ji Yuan Sheng
asked me something."
"What?"
"He said, 'I
heard that you were only pregnant for five months?' I said 'yes', but he didn't
seem at all surprised, and then kept asking about Xiao Yu. It seemed he wanted
to see Xiao Yu very much."
Ji Yu's face darkened
slightly, "Did I said something wrong? Maybe I shouldn't have come back
this time."
Originally, Ji Yu
had expected that Ji Yuan Sheng would want to see Xiao Yu at least once.
After all, Xiao Yu
is Ji Yuan Sheng's grandson.
Even if there’s
not much emotional attachment, it’s still very reasonable for someone to want
to see their grandchild.
If, at that time,
Ji Yuan Sheng really insists on seeing Xiao Yu, then it is not impossible for
them to meet.
Besides, it’s not
like Ji Yu can hide Xiao Yu away for a lifetime.
However…
Ever since
meeting his nominal father, Ji Yu always felt that Ji Yuan Sheng was a bit off.
Ji Yuan Sheng
desires to see Xiao Yu is almost obsessive, not at all like how a grandfather
would look at his grandson.
Ji Yu can't pinpoint
exactly what is wrong, but he knows something’s strange is going on.
He Zhou thought
for a while, and said, "I don't think it has anything to do with what you
said, or whether or not you came back. It should have been something else that Ji
Yuan Sheng is interested in. Even if you don't come back, he will go looking
for you."
Ji Yu lowered his
eyes and sank into thoughts. A moment later, he suddenly raised his eyes and
look at He Zhou.
"Then are
you going back now? Where is Xiao Yu? Is he safe?"
He Zhou:
"He's at my house. He's safe, you can rest assured."
Ji Yu was a little
surprised: "Your house? You actually took him home? Won’t your family see
him?"
He Zhou nodded:
"Yeah, they saw."
He suddenly raised his lips, and his
eyes was a bit playful, "Don't worry, Xiao Yu has adapted well in my
house."
Ji Yu asked again: "...Then, is
your family able to ‘adapt’ to Xiao Yu?"
This time, He Zhou actually laughed.
He nodded, "Unexpectedly well."
"Maybe it's because Xiao Yu is still
just a child. My family would never make things difficult for a child. After
all, human beings are always more tolerant toward human cubs."
He Zhou still remembered his father's
expression of when Xiao Yu was first brought to the He house.
Father He had a terrifying expression,
as if he wanted to blow up the whole world.
However, unexpectedly, Xiao Yu was not afraid at all. Although the child had cried all the way to the He house, the moment he saw the terrifying old man, he actually reached out for a hug.
Of course, Father He had on a disgusted
expression, scolded He Zhou angrily, put his hands behind his back, before storming away.
However…
Last night and even this morning, the
old man had ‘accidentally’ passed by the baby's room at least five times.
Three of which, were witnessed by He
Zhou.
1. 伸手不打笑脸人 (stretch out your hand, but don’t hit a
smiling face): a proverb about forgiveness. If they are sincere and apologize
to you, smile at you with the intention to reconcile, then you should not
attack them. At least, not openly.
