I Found Myself Pregnant After Becoming An Omega 18

Chapter 18: Faster Than First Place?

“Hey Brother, what happens to your clothes?”

Fei Qiu walks from the bedroom to the bathroom, and then from the bathroom to the balcony, “Also, where’s the laundry basket? Where did everything go?”

He had lost to He Zhou during yesterday’s basketball match, and the loser has to wash the winner’s clothes for a week. Today was only the first day, and yet He Zhou’s clothes as well as the entire laundry basket were all missing.

Fei Qiu looked around but still couldn’t find anything. He returned to the bedroom and looked at He Zhou with overflowing gratitude1, “Brother, you are so great. I knew you would be reluctant to let me wash so many clothes.”

He Zhou gave him a glance, “What are you thinking about? My clothes have already been taken away by someone earlier today.”

Fei Qiu was stunned, “Who, ah? There’s actually someone who would want the punishment of having to wash clothes?”

He Zhou looked up from his computer screen, raised the corner of his lips, and spit out two words: “Ji Yu.”

“Him?”

Fei Qiu’s head was completely filled with question marks, and he asked three questions in a row, “Did I missed something? When did you guys developed to this point? Why do I not know?”

He Zhou raised his eyebrows, his eye flashed with a rare trace of color.

He was about to speak when he heard his phone ring. The special ringtone made his expression sink, and the pressure around him visibly dropped.

Fei Qiu took a look and said in a soft voice, “Your dad?”

He Zhou nodded, and went to the balcony to answer the phone.

“He Zhou.”

“Yes, Dad.”

“What are you doing right now?”

“Just reading inside the dorm.”

“Xie Qi will return to the country on Saturday. You will go pick him up, and, in the evening, both of our families will have a meal together.”

He Zhou suddenly frowned, “I have already cancelled my engagement with him, for us to meet again is…”

“I’m telling you to go pick him up. Is there a problem?” On the other end of the phone, the voice was extremely stern and did not allow for rejection.

He Zhou went quiet, before replying, “No problem.”

After hanging up, He Zhou continues to stare at his phone with a blank expression.

Soon, the phone lit up again, with a message detailing the flight number and landing time of Xie Qi’s plane.

He Zhou silently read the information, dark clouds rolling in his deep obsidian eyes.

“Bro,” Fei Qiu stops by the door, stretched his head in, and asked in a low voice, “How’s it looking?”

He Zhou raised his eyes and looked up at him, “Do you have some free time this Saturday?”

Fei Qiu patted his chest, “For you, I have time any day! Brother, if you need anything, just ask!”

Do me a favor.

On the other side, Ji Yu casted an equally heavy gaze at the messages on his phone.

Ever since he sent that string of [hehe], the other side have remained silent. He doesn’t know if they are just pissed off or is actually plotting something. 2

All in all, this doesn’t sit well with him. 3

He still knows too little about the original owner, and everything he does know came from Xie Yu Xing.

After carefully going over everything Xie Yu Xing have said, Ji Yu suddenly realized something. Even though they have been friends for so many years, Xie Yu Xing seem to not know much about the original Ji Yu.

Xie Yu Xing’s impression of the original Ji Yu can be described in two words: Very poor.

Aside from that, he actually doesn’t say anything else about Ji Yu’s parents, relatives, or even any other friends. 4

In the end, what exactly is the original owner’s family background and social circle like?

From what Ji Yu can see, the original owner was someone who is raising his child alone, suffers from all kinds of abuse in school, and his only friend was Xie Yu Xing.

From what Ji Yu had heard, the original owner was poor and lowly, yet had lofty ambitions to marry into a wealthy family. He gave birth to a child in only five months, and the child’s father denied the baby.

Then what about all the things Ji Yu hadn’t seen, and hadn’t hear?

Something in Ji Yu’s brain suddenly lit up, and his whole body was shocked. He turned on his computer and quickly tapped on the keyboard.

Currently, he is a rich man, ah!

What is the benefit of being rich? Of course, it is to spend money to solve any problem, ah!

Rather than trying to break his head thinking about it, why not just directly hire a private investigator to find out?

——I’m hiring someone to check on myself. This doesn’t count as something illegal, right?

However, after searching around online, Ji Yu failed to find even a single private detective that seems reliable.

In the end, he had been a law-abiding citizen for the past 18 years, and have never touch upon the dark side of society. At most, he had only breach basic security walls to look at foreign sites on the Internet.5

Even if he really needed to do something bad, he wouldn’t even know how.

Seeing as how it was nearly eleven o’clock, Ji Yu turned off the computer and went to sleep.

Tomorrow he will have two exams, and he must ensure that his performance is exemplary.

Early the next morning, as usual, Xie Yu Xing came to find Ji Yu to go to school.

As soon as they met, Xie Yu Xing asked, “Have you seen the post of the forum? Is it true?”

Ji Yu, who was gnawing on his toast in the back seat of the bike, “The one that said I cheated?”

Xie Yu Xing shook his head, “No, I believe that you wouldn’t cheat. I meant about the thing between you and He Zhou.”

Think about that narcissistic maniac, Ji Yu felt a big headache. 6

“There’s nothing between me and him. I just went to him to get some clothes, that’s all. Now that the clothes are obtained, and little Yu Zhou is feeling better, there will be no further contact.”

“Oh,” he added, “And when I have to return the clothes. But that’s about it.”

“Really?”

Of course, really. What other relationship can I have with him?”

Ji Yu touched the back of his neck. The wound had scabbed over and was healing very quickly. “I have already made the appointment online. During the next National Day, I will have the mark remove.”

The removal of marking is not a small operation, and is required to be booked in advanced.

Typically, students do not get a lot of free time except for National Day, a weeklong holiday that gives them seven days off. Ji Yu planned to take advantage of National Day to get his mark remove, and then take the time off to recuperate.

The most important thing is for him to get this mark remove himself. Then, without having to say anything, He Zhou should be able to know exactly what it means.

This way, Ji Yu could avoid any face-to-face conversation and embarrassment.

Xie Yu Xing, “I will come with you.”

Ji Yu nodded: “Ok. Though it would great if I could change my gender.”

Think of this, Ji Yu suddenly felt disheartened. When he was checking about how to remove a mark before, he also checked on how to get secondary gender-reassignment surgery.

As a result, he found that, although the ABO differentiation in this world has came about 100 years ago, there has been no advancement in the technology to change a person’s secondary gender. In fact, there’s not even a single successful example.

Or to say that——

This world is actually regressive.

Although it appears prosperous, in reality, it’s a mess.

At the top, the Alphas held the most power and authority. However, while they are willing to help protect those weaker than themselves, they are not willing to share that power. Thus, things like gender-reassignment surgery, particularly for a lower caste to surgically become an Alpha, is therefore forbidden and widely discourage. (No Alpha would be stupid enough to invent it.)

Down below, the Betas are happily average.7 While there are some Betas who are ambitious, most are willing to settle for mediocrity. This is why, though they possessed the largest population, they are unable to unite toward a single goal, and ultimately can’t amount to anything, much less something like gender-reassignment. 8

As for the poor Omegas who desperately wants to change their gender, they are too weak in both mind and body to ever achieve their wish. The constant heat that frequently ravage their body causes them to be unable to concentrate on their research or study, and restraints them from taking on high-intensity work. This makes it difficult for them to be successful in anything. For an Omega, the door of opportunity in the field of scientific research is nothing short but closed.

When it comes to this sort of obvious and blatant inequity, visible even to the naked eye, there is often little chance of change. Those who have the ability to make a difference are unwilling to change, while those who desire change simply don’t have that ability.

In conclusion, the idea of changing one’s secondary gender is nothing more than an impossible dream for the current human civilization.

There were also some Omegas who, fed up with their debilitating estrus period, have tried to cut off their glands in a desperate attempt to restore their self-esteem and freedom.

However, they all failed without exception.

The consequence of removing the gland is permanent damages resulting in severe physiological disorder to the entire body. Even an Alpha couldn’t bear with this kind of backlash, let alone a fragile Omega.

The more he thought about it, the worst he felt. Ji Yu didn’t want to think about it anymore. He frees his thoughts, and cast his gaze onto the people and scenes passing him on the road.

Everything that enters his eyes were so familiar, yet upon closer inspection, there was a strange feeling to it all.

He had an urge to sign and lament, but after thinking for a long time, he couldn’t say anything. He could only raise his lips and smiled and begin thinking about today’s exam.

The entire exam process lasts for three days.

The first day is Chinese Literature. The second day is Math and English. And the third day is for the elective courses.

Things like taking exams are not a problem for Ji Yu.9 The only thing he needs to focus on is how to improve his performance in term of speed and accuracy.

Yesterday, Ji Yu finished the Chinese Literature exam in two and a half hours, with fifty minutes left to spare. Today’s exams are Math and English, with two hours total, so he’s considering how to finish them both in under one hour. Same thing for tomorrow’s Physic and Chemistry exams.

Ji Yu is doing all this simply because he’s just not satisfied with the low level of suspicion from the teachers.

In fact, Ji Yu wanted to magnify their suspicion even more. He wanted to make himself famous within the school, and for the school forum to be constantly discussing his name at an all-time high for a long time to come. 10

When they arrived at the staircase of the school building, Ji Yu and Xie Yu Xing waved goodbye.

Ji Yu ignored the strange glances from the people around him as he walked to his classroom and begin studying. When it was time, he packed up his stuff and headed to the testing room.

Learning from his previous experience, Ji Yu didn’t arrive early but stepped in on the last bell.

This way, he can avoid talking to He Zhou. Thinking about what happened yesterday, he felt quite embarrassed. Two big men talking about “I like you, you like me.” Say, what was that?

Ji Yu sat down at his seat. He kept his eyes focus on the teacher at the front without blinking, treating He Zhou’s gazes as invisible.

The test monitor for today is a different teacher.

The male teacher introduces himself while opening the test packets, “I am the head teacher of Class 3 and Class 8. My surname is Lin, and my first name is Ying. I will be the supervisor for this exam. I trust that I don’t need to remind you the rules of the exam again, since everyone here has taken enough tests to know them by heart.”

As he spoke, his gaze swept across the students in the room, lingering on Ji Yu for a few second.

“The test packet consists of three things: the test questions, the answer sheet, as well as scratch paper. All three things must be handed in together when the time is up.11 Don’t even think about cheating. All the cameras covering the entire room are turned on, and we will also looked at everyone’s scratch paper during the grading process.”

“There are no multiple-choice answers in the Mathematics portion of the test. If the work on your scratch paper is wrong, but you somehow managed to get the correct answer, then you better be prepare…” 12

The examination room erupted in an uproar.

Someone raised their hand and asked, “What if we don’t know how to do it, but we managed to guess the correct answer?”

Teacher Lin: “In that case, we teachers will have our own considerations, and will not wrong any student. However—"

JI Yu raised his head and confidently faces the gaze of Teacher Lin.

Teacher Lin’s gaze were shining: “—Once a problem is discovered, we will never tolerate it!”

Ji Yu acted exceptionally obedient and give a little nod, he even raises his hands to applaud.

Teacher Lin’s expression pauses, “……”

Why did he have a feeling like he was provoked?

However, before he could think more about it, the exam bell rang.

He was forced to withdraw his line of sight, and begin handing out test papers.

The exam has begun.

Ji Yu glanced at the blank piece of scratch paper, wrote down his name and student number, before folding in up and placing it at the corner of his desk under his student ID. It is obvious that he does not intend to use it.

Teacher Lin who was secretly watching: “……”

Ji Yu calmly lowered his eyes and concentrated on the test.

For simple questions, Ji Yu directly wrote down the answers. For more complicated questions, he quickly worked them out in his mind, and, only occasionally, wrote down a few calculations on the test. As for that piece of scratch paper, it was completely thrown into the Cold Palace. 13

When Ji Yu finished the test, only fifty minutes have passed.

On the scratch paper, aside from the name and student number, the rest of the paper appeared exactly the same as it originally was.

About ten minutes later, Ji Yu finished checking over his work, and put down his pen.

A crisp “clack” rang out, and suddenly there were several sharp inhales.

Standing on the podium and watching this entire time, Teacher Lin could no longer contain himself and went down to check out the situation.

He walked over to Ji Yu’s side, looked down at Ji Yu’s test, and then at the blank scratch paper. After a moment of silence, Teacher Lin turned to look at He Zhou, last year’s first place student, only to find that He Zhou had only just gotten started on the last problem.

He Zhou raised his head: “?”

Teacher Lin: “……”

Having been a teacher for so many years, it wasn’t like he had never seen a genius student before.

But a student like Ji Yu? Who ranked dead last for the past two years, suddenly counterattacked?!

An Omega that did math problems faster than a top ranked Alpha?

Simply unheard of!

Suppose that he cheated…

Teacher Lin raised his eyes to looked at Ji Yu.

Ji Yu had on a calm face, with his cheeks resting on one hand, while his other hand twirls a pen in a myriad of tricks, looking very leisurely.

Who could cheat so arrogantly, ah?!

12. The original text is “then you better be careful,” as in “you better take care when we come after yo ass.” But in English that’s kind of left hanging, so it was changed. Dem fightin’ words tho…

13. If you don’t know what the Cold Palace is, I suggest you start binging on palace dramas for a proper education.
